Cyclorama Studio Hire Cyprus — FAQ for International Productions

  • 2 min read

International productions considering Cyprus increasingly find themselves comparing options: Greece, Portugal, Bulgaria, Cyprus. For productions choosing Cyprus, the 650m² cyclorama studio at Red Storm Films in Limassol is the most-asked-about facility. Here are the questions international producers ask us most often.

Studio Size & Equipment Compatibility

The cyclorama studio is 650m² with a 10x10 metre infinity white curve and 8 metre ceiling height — large enough for full vehicles, multi-camera blocking, and complex grip rigs. Power supply is 3-phase 32A and 63A distro available. Equipment in our Kino Rentals inventory is industry-standard (ARRI, RED, Sony, ARRI HMI, ARRI SkyPanel) and compatible with everything international DPs bring with them.

Cyprus Film Commission 45% Cash Rebate — How It Works for Internationals

The Cyprus Film Commission offers up to 45% cash rebate on qualifying below-the-line spend, with a minimum €200,000 qualifying expenditure threshold for feature films and TV series. The scheme has a €25 million annual budget. Application must be submitted before principal photography. Red Storm Films is Cyprus-headquartered, which simplifies eligibility — we sponsor the rebate application as the local producer.

Visa & Work Permits for Crew

EU citizens have free movement — no work permit needed. Non-EU crew (US, UK post-Brexit, Asia, Middle East) typically enter on the standard 90-day Schengen-area visa exemption for short production assignments. For longer engagements, our production coordinator handles work-permit applications through the Cyprus Department of Labour Inspection. Allow 4 to 6 weeks for non-EU work permits.

Customs & Equipment Import (Carnet)

Productions bringing significant equipment into Cyprus typically use an ATA Carnet for temporary import. Cyprus is fully ATA Carnet compliant. Our Limassol operations team handles customs liaison — we receive carnet-imported gear at the studio and return it through the same channel at wrap. For productions hiring locally from Kino Rentals, no customs paperwork is needed.

Languages, Currency, Payment

Cyprus official languages are English (widely spoken in business and production), Greek, and Russian (large Russian-speaking community in Limassol). Our entire production team operates in English. Currency is the Euro (€), and we accept SEPA wire, international wire transfer, and major credit cards. Standard payment terms are 50% on booking confirmation, 50% on shoot wrap.
